Press Conference: The world's elite is competing
The 22nd German Open Championships are actually recording 4 926
entries from 46 nations. For the Grand Slam tournaments the world´s
best dance couples have entered. "Nowhere else are so many couples
from so many nations dancing their competitions. The GOC is the
world's largest international dancesport competition", announced
GOC Managing Director Harry Körner at the press conference a week
before the GOC is opened. Now for the fifth time the eyes of the
entire danscesport world are looking between 12 and 16 August to
Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Wuerttemberg, when the dance
couples turn the Culture and Congress Center Liederhalle (KKL) in a
gigantic ballroom. More highlights promise the World Cup of the
Boogie Woogie Oldies on Friday and the World Cup of the Boogie
Woogie Main Class on Saturday. Even for these events the scene is
prepared and is sending their best couples into the race.
The SWR television broadcasts on Saturday evening between
22.20 h and 23.50 h one and a half hour live from the Beethoven
Hall. The decisions in the Grand Slam competition of the standard
amateurs and in the World Cup Boogie-Woogie of the Main Class will
be presented to television viewers Great interest encounter the GOC
by the media representatives. Around 50 journalists from eleven
nations will be reporting from the halls of the KKL.
