IDSF European Standard in Moscow
It was "a black day for dancesport", as sports director Michael Eichert designated the IDSF European Standard in Moscow (Russia): " The first rank for Bosco/Pitton was the one true and correct result" , was his disappointed comment on site. "The second Russian couple would actually not have made it into the finals, and neither could we, the German delegation, understand why Gimaev/Basiuk were placed before Ghigiarelli/Andracchio".
The World Cup finalists Simone Segatori/Annette had to be
comfortable with the fifth rank in the finals. "They danced
amazingly, and would have deserved a better ranking," says Eichert.
The second couple representing Germany, Stanislaw Massold/Christine
Deck, in the semi finals last year, made it only to the quarter
finals and finished with a shared 15./16. rank. "The two of them
have not yet arrived at their usual level after their injury break,
so this ranking was fine", says Eichert. A total of 58 couples were
at the start and cheered at by around 1,200 viewers at Moscow's
Druzba Hall.
